Batch #12, bottled in May 2010, and consumed 8/25/10.
A: Dark orange color with about 1/4 inch head. VERY cloudy with tons of yeasties floating around. Nice!
S: I detected more orange than grapefruit. Maybe a bit of peach?
T: Bitter, bitter, BITTER... but in an awesome way. Very hop forward with citrus to spare. Alcohol sizzle is prominent throughout. Still, the caramel malt backbone is strongly present and doesn't disappoint.
M: Pretty thick, but the flavors are so pleasant that the sugar residue that lingers is actually a good thing. Surprisingly, there isn't much lacing on the glass.
D: I guess that due to the high ABV, one couldn't guzzle too much of this stuff, but for being the Imperial monster that it is, it's a great drinker!
Overall: One of the many bench-mark setting IIPAs!
