Picked up in Ponderay, Idaho. From a 22 oz. brown bomber, gold foil around the neck and cap. Pours out a hazed amber hue, with a loose creamy light beige head that settle to a mid-sized cap.
Sweet bready malt, mild caramel, with bright orange highlights on the nose, floral hops.
While not considered intense, there is a lot of good stuff going on in the flavour here. No wait...it got intense. Sweet bready and caramel malt up front with sweet orange citrus notes, punctuated with sharp pine and leafy herbal hops, grapefruit pith and rind, getting spicier and more astringent towards the finish, and lingering on well into the aftertaste. Hop bill has some depth and layering to it but never gets out of control.
Full-bodied mouthfeel, slightly on the lighter side of that spectrum but hardly an issue, full slightly chewy, creamy smooth texture, with a somewhat assertive mouthfeel for the style which adds extra depth.
More please. When it comes to DIPA's there are bulldozers and there are Mercedes, and this is the latter of the two, smooth, refined, yet still has the horsepower to deliver the goods, just with more grace and refinement.
