Batch 11. Bottled in March, 2010. Poured into a New Belgium globe glass.
A- The Maharaja pours a clear amber color with a sticky head of off-white foam that settles down to a silky layer atop the beer. Minimal lacing is left behind.
S- Pithy notes of unripe melon along with fresh, oily pine resin, tropical fruits, pungent citrus rind -- lemon zest -- and herbal notes of cannabis. The malt bill smells of sweet, lightly toasted caramel malts. The 10.41% ABV is very prominent, but it nicely compliments the variety of strong hop aromas.
T- Intense hop bitterness from start to finish. Lots of grapefruit rind, herbal pine, and sweet tropical fruits in the flavor. The malt backing tries to cut through towards the dry and boozy finish. A lasting bitterness that contains the pithy, plant-like notes of the aroma remains on the palate long after each sip.
M- The feel is on the medium side of full-bodied and slightly oily with an average amount of carbonation.
D- The flavor and aroma are great, but this beer lays a bit heavy on the stomach. It's so deliciously bitter though.

This is a very good beer, but I have had better. Maybe I have held on to this one too long, but it was a bit too malty for my taste. Although the bottle promotes the balance and "control" like a raja of both hops and malts. I feel like the malts are too intense for the beer. Well balanced but for the style I would say medium to high ratings.
Color: Dark bronze, but with some transparency, also a very low amount of head and lacing.
Smell: Not as intense as a West Coast IPA. Maybe that is my favorite style?
Taste: Balanced, I got this one on sale for a super deal so I figured I would try it, but I would not pay what the original price reflected.
Overall: A Solid beer, well balanced, not as much hops going on as I would like but its not a bad beer in any regard. But, to me there are much better in the same price range.
