Aggressive pour yields a brilliantly clear copper/amber color with a solid one inch ecru head that lingers a good amount, leaving thick lacing as it dissipates.
Earthy hop aromas are initially evident, followed by dankness and very strong grapefruit. A fairly strong caramel malt backbone lurks throughout, ending with alcohol.
The flavor is, of course, dominated by hops. Grapefruit and citrus pith lead the way, battering the palate with zesty lemon and tropical fruits. Pine and resin carry through into a decidedly bitter, slightly sprucey finish. Bready malt ties together the flavor profile, but is not a major player.
Body is fairly heavy, with moderate carbonation, finishing fairly dry, with alcohol warmth.
Overall, very hop dominant dipa. Even with the high alcohol content, the malt is subdued, allowing the hops to shine.

This is a very good beer, but I have had better. Maybe I have held on to this one too long, but it was a bit too malty for my taste. Although the bottle promotes the balance and "control" like a raja of both hops and malts. I feel like the malts are too intense for the beer. Well balanced but for the style I would say medium to high ratings.
Color: Dark bronze, but with some transparency, also a very low amount of head and lacing.
Smell: Not as intense as a West Coast IPA. Maybe that is my favorite style?
Taste: Balanced, I got this one on sale for a super deal so I figured I would try it, but I would not pay what the original price reflected.
Overall: A Solid beer, well balanced, not as much hops going on as I would like but its not a bad beer in any regard. But, to me there are much better in the same price range.
