Served in a nucleated pint glass from a bomber labeled "March, 2011"
A: A deep, rich orange with very soapy off white, one finger thick head. You can tell when you pour this how thick and syrupy this is. The head lingers for most of the glass, and head retention is great.
S: Very sweet and malty, hints of caramel. Faint, piny hops and a tiny bit of citrus.
T: At a first sip I couldn't believe how sweet this beer was. Very caramelly and rich with a tongue stinging dry finish of grapefruit and pine. Put some brown sugar on a grapefruit and take a huge bite. This is what this beer tastes like to me.
M: Starts off very smooth and creamy, but finishes dryer than most. The aftertaste lingers for a few minutes. For 10.5% abv, it doesn't have a strong alcohol flavor, but it's certainly there on the harsh finish.
O: A good beer, but doesn't measure up to some of the other TIPA's out there. It's starting to become a chore to finish the glass, but I certainly got my hop fix.

This is a very good beer, but I have had better. Maybe I have held on to this one too long, but it was a bit too malty for my taste. Although the bottle promotes the balance and "control" like a raja of both hops and malts. I feel like the malts are too intense for the beer. Well balanced but for the style I would say medium to high ratings.
Color: Dark bronze, but with some transparency, also a very low amount of head and lacing.
Smell: Not as intense as a West Coast IPA. Maybe that is my favorite style?
Taste: Balanced, I got this one on sale for a super deal so I figured I would try it, but I would not pay what the original price reflected.
Overall: A Solid beer, well balanced, not as much hops going on as I would like but its not a bad beer in any regard. But, to me there are much better in the same price range.
