A - Pours a hazy burnt orange amber with a fluffy off-white head that lingers. The head has a great creamy foaminess that clings to the glass. Really a very inviting beer in the glass.
S - Big resinous hop nose with pine, orange and lemon zest. Malt sweetness sneaks in behind the hops and a definite assertive alcohol in the nose, but not offensive or hot. What you'd expect for a 10.4% beer. No diacetyl or dms. Well brewed.
T - Bready malt mixes with high hop bitterness with flavors of pine and grapefruit pith. Alcohol sweetness on the back end. Finishes dry. Grapefruit bitterness lingers in the aftertaste with a "woody" quality.
M - Medium-full to full bodied. Medium CO2. Very creamy on the palette.
O - A very nice Imperial IPA. I enjoy the big malt bill that balances out the big hops. For a 10.4% beer, it doesn't seem that big, which is a compliment. If it wasn't for that 10.4%, I could drink a lot of this beer. Nice job Avery!!

Poured from a growler into a tulip
A: Hazy light brown, one-finger head
S: Lots of malt, caramel, toffee followed by grapefruit, pine and tropical fruit underneath. Complex and very pleasant to smell
T: Matches the nose but the hops are more prevalent
M: Full bodied; malty, hoppy, not hot but I can tell the EtOH is there
O: Not the best DIPA I've had but quite tasty and a classic example of the style. I've had this both bottled and on tap and it's far better on tap
