From warriorsoul, this IIPA came in a 22 oz. bomber with a regal label and silver neck foil. The beer was poured out into a tulip, and looked clear glowing reddish orange with a well proportioned creamy dense head.
The aroma was thick in its tropical fruit lustiness with grapefruit rinds, mangoes, and guava. The background was earthy and ripe like a mellow cheese.
The taste was as pleasurably intense as I was anticipating. The hops came up front with a peppery and citric snap. The malt was thick and chewy with a tongue coating caramel sensation. Overall the effect was like chewing on a hop flavored hard candy. The mouthfeel was smooth and the carbonation soft. The aftertaste lingered, making this more of a sipper.
Not a complex beer, but with such a solid cohesive structure, additional complexity would just get in the way.
