Bought today from a fresh shipment at Morry's of Long Beach. Served at a bit under cellar temp into a Stone Pint glass.
A: Nice amber color with a 2 finger white fluffy head that really sticks around. Lots of lacing and amazing head retention for a 10% beer.
S: Wow! Citric hops right up front. This is followed by hops, then finished by hops. Oh, and I sense some hops in the background too.
T: No hop presence so to speak of. No wait, it's all hops, with just a bit of caramel malt in the background. Very heavy on the citric hops with lots of oily hop juice and a nice sharp hop bitterness at the end. Wonderful! The bitterness lasts for quite a while after the last sip. This has it all - the hop aroma and bitterness are both present full on.
M: Great! With the oily hops it is nice and satisfying, but this also never gets cloying. Bitter, yes - not cloying.
D: I don't know how to really rate this one. This is heavily biased toward the hops and bitterness of course, but I also can't pull myself away from it.
Highly recommended for a hophead (and this would definitely include myself). Go try it at the very least.

This is a very good beer, but I have had better. Maybe I have held on to this one too long, but it was a bit too malty for my taste. Although the bottle promotes the balance and "control" like a raja of both hops and malts. I feel like the malts are too intense for the beer. Well balanced but for the style I would say medium to high ratings.
Color: Dark bronze, but with some transparency, also a very low amount of head and lacing.
Smell: Not as intense as a West Coast IPA. Maybe that is my favorite style?
Taste: Balanced, I got this one on sale for a super deal so I figured I would try it, but I would not pay what the original price reflected.
Overall: A Solid beer, well balanced, not as much hops going on as I would like but its not a bad beer in any regard. But, to me there are much better in the same price range.
