Poured a cloudy amber brown body with a half finger of bubbly white head. Overall impression of appearance is of a good Belgian Pale Ale, true to style at the darker end of the spectrum. Scent begins malty sweet with notes of toasty and biscuity malt and a moderate fruitiness imparting aromas of prune, plum and apricot, with a light caramel quality and peppery, spicy phenols in the background at the end. Overall impression of aroma is of a malt-forward beer that blends a variety of aromas into a balanced whole. A good example of a Belgian Pale Ale, though a presence of floral hops would improve it. Flavor begins with soft sweet malt lending notes notes of biscuits and toast to light caramel flavor and fruity flavors of prune, plum and apricot. This carries over into the middle of the sip. Finish is lightly sweet and dominated by soft malt flavors imparting toasty, biscuity and nutty flavors with very light peppery phenols and a light fruitiness. Aftertaste is toasty, biscuity, nutty malt and very light white pepper. Overall impression of flavor is of a balanced yet malty ale, with enough yeast character and fruit for the style. True to form and quite pleasing for a Belgian Pale Ale. Mouthfeel is medium-light bodied with moderate carbonation and a soft, smooth feel. Overall impression of mouthfeel is of a good easy drinking ale. Overall this is an excellent example of a true Belgian Pale Ale. Not to be confused with the more phenolic Belgian Golden Strong and Belgian Blonde ales, this is a fine example of the malty, soft, balanced aroma and flavors of the sessionable Belgian Pale. A good beer and quite nice as a light "everyday" beer.

12 fl. oz. bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV not mentioned on the label. Orange to amber colour, moderate to low white head. Dusty and uninteresting aroma, notes of cardboard. The flavour has some fruitiness, but is otherwise dusty, bland and boring. Minimal hops. Disappointing.

The beer poured a hazy orange-gold colour with a thin white short-lived head. The aroma was light fruits, yeast, grains, citrus, and funk. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied with mild carbonation. The flavour was grassy malt, yeast, and honey.

My Karma almost ran over my dogma, but I managed to stay the course as far as the eradication of the Bottle Backlog here at Chez Woody.
From the bottle: "Inspired by the principle of karma and the wonderful farmhouse and pale ales of Belgium, we have created this bright and estery Belgian-style ale with a beautiful amber hue. Here's to being good!"; "Good ale happens to good people."
Following a Pop! of the cap, I began a gentle pour since it was a bottle of unknown age and origin. I got a good amount of foaming anyway, resulting in two fingers of foamy, tawny head with decent retention. Color was Deep Amber/Light Copper to Copper (SRM = > 13, < 17) with NE-quality clarity. Nose was mildly sweet and malty with a light honey-like quality and a fruitiness from the esters mentioned on the label. I smelled grapes and apples, primarily. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste had a breadiness to go with the fruity tastes of pears, apples, golden raisins and white grapes as well as a slight peppery spiciness. Finish was very dry, indicative of the Belgian yeast really having done its job. The relatively low ABV put me in mind of a table beer. It was eminently drinkable, but it just was not quite scratching my itch.
