Pours a hazy burnt orange color with a nice fluffy head on top. Lots of sediment falls to the bottom of the glass. Not just the usual sediment, this is actually balls and pieces, the size of sesame seeds.
Aroma is pleasant. Apples, pears, and alcohol all come through nicely. Very fruity.
The flavor is fruity as well. A hint of hop bitterness comes through for a quick second, but doesnt account for much of the taste profile. Very nicely balanced beer with a lot of good characteristics.
Mouthfeel is nearly medium bodied and adequately carbonated. Very strong drinkability. This beer was a pleasant change of pace. Your girlfriend might even like it.

Poured on draft at the fabulous Duckworth's on Park Rd, Charlotte, NC.
Pours gold with minimal lacing, initial blush of Belgian candy sugar folds into a lightly malted pale ale. This isn't something I'd seek out - but considering it's 5.2% - it's not a bad session beer. Maybe this is more to the liking of others - but I'm one and done with this brew. Big fan of the brewery though.

Pours a lively amber color with a nice white foam head that dissipates quickly. Leaves a decent amount of lacing around the edge.
Aroma leads with some grassiness and a bit of lemon zest, with a hint of orange. Floral hops. A little bit of roasted malts.
Unfortunately, there's not much going on in the taste. More of the grassiness from the aroma. Wheat. Sugary. Very subdued.
Mouthfeel is extremely thin and watery. Moderate amount of carbonation. Best thing I can say about this one is that it's refreshing.
Overall, A disappointing first experience from a brewery that I've heard good things about. I won't be giving up on Avery just because of this, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend this beer.
