Poured into a tulip, I got a good two fingers of loosely packed white head, which quickly receded to become a thin smattering of bubbles. Amber body. Not a whole lot going on as far as lacing.
"What on earth?" This beer smells like straight molasses, and maybe if you use your imagination, pecan pie. The grassy hop aroma is barely there, but it floats around, and doesn't quite seem to fit.
Much like the smell, but with a hint of cherry and plum. Very thin in both flavor and mouthfeel. Easy drinking, but never satisfying. There's a slight tartness on the finish. Almost nonexistent carbonation.
Not what I was expecting at all. I'm glad I tried it -- it's decently tasty, but nothing I'll be coming back to. Avery can, and has done better.

Poured on draft at the fabulous Duckworth's on Park Rd, Charlotte, NC.
Pours gold with minimal lacing, initial blush of Belgian candy sugar folds into a lightly malted pale ale. This isn't something I'd seek out - but considering it's 5.2% - it's not a bad session beer. Maybe this is more to the liking of others - but I'm one and done with this brew. Big fan of the brewery though.

Pours a lively amber color with a nice white foam head that dissipates quickly. Leaves a decent amount of lacing around the edge.
Aroma leads with some grassiness and a bit of lemon zest, with a hint of orange. Floral hops. A little bit of roasted malts.
Unfortunately, there's not much going on in the taste. More of the grassiness from the aroma. Wheat. Sugary. Very subdued.
Mouthfeel is extremely thin and watery. Moderate amount of carbonation. Best thing I can say about this one is that it's refreshing.
Overall, A disappointing first experience from a brewery that I've heard good things about. I won't be giving up on Avery just because of this, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend this beer.
