Pours a very nice deep black with an exceptionally large head that stays. There's a bit of lacing but it falls quickly.
Not too strong of a nose, there a tad of malt mostly covered by toasty coffee smell. But it's not overly apparent and doesn't really affect the beer.
First taste is strong coffee, toasted chocolate, but also a bit of sweet dark berry in here somewhere. Almost like drinking a smore, but with a plum instead of a marshmallow. This is some seriously good stuff for a stout, but it's incredibly hard to drink thanks to a very present alcohol texture and throat burn. Though it does warm the belly nice.
The mouth feel is nice and creamy until the swallow, strongly astringent alcohol bite.
This is the ideal winter beer. It's incredibly hard to drink, but it warms the belly and the body and will definitely take away the bad memories of shoveling the driveway and cleaning the snow off of the car. Unless you live in a tropical climate, but in that case, why are you drinking a stout anyway?
