December 2010 batch
Father's day present to myself. Holla.
A ~ Black as motor oil with a cocoa powder head that has some intense tan highlighting. After is dissipates, it leaves an uninviting tan whirlpool of an Abyss. Holy shit...
S ~ Amazing, like a dinner in a glass. Port wine, Well-done Strip steak, and black pepper...this evolving into prunes and stale raisins. It just doesn't quit as I'm left with cinnamon stick and alcohol.
T ~ Rich black coffee, chocolate covered mesquite chips, and potting soil on that first cold sip. More flavors come as I fully absorb this one: Rich black coffee, smoked oak, Darjeeling, and dark chocolate. Goddamn.
As it warms some flavors I didn't expect in this stout are present:
Campfire, Prune juice, crushed cloves, wet tobacco, tree bark, and vanilla bean. Pretty aggressive experience on the palette.
M ~ Robust & Roasty do not even begin to describe this beer...You have ABV and cocoa flavors on the throat while the dried fruit flavors hang out on the tongue. Just beautiful.
D ~ I will not be drinking another beer. This is pure evil in a bottle released in a glass; straight up satanic syrup. A very sinister experience, one I would like to cellar so those campfire flavors to come through more.
Recommended but sip slow to stay in the clear.
The Beast is next!
