Served on tap in a 10 oz chalice glass
Appearance – Served a dark brown beer with some red highlights when held to the light. Upon serving there was an off-white head that faded relatively fast to leave light lacing.
Smell – The smell of the brew is of roasted malt mixed with a decent dose of chocolate. Along with these aromas is some light coffee and nuttiness as well.
Taste – The taste begins with a caramel and roasted malt flavor initially. Soon some lighter chocolate notes come to the tongue. The beer at this point is on the sweeter side, but begins to bitter as the coffee and nut flavors that were detected in the nose come to the tongue. At the very end some herbal hop flavors and a light woodiness comes to the tongue to round down some of the sweet even more.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is smooth and a little on the thicker side with a carbonation level that is slightly below average. It has a rather nice feel for the taste and is rather drinkable.
Overall – A decent brown, but nothing too-too extraordinary. Worth a try if you have never had it.

The body appears tobacco juice brown and features a thin yet sticky light tan head. Nuts and roasted malt grain aroma. The taste sports a malty sweetness offset with a somewhat bitter and slightly acrid flavor at the finish. Medium bodied; smooth and semi-dry finish.
This brown ale appears to have roots in within a traditional, malt-forward type of ale. The malt sugars are the key: rich, slightly charred in flavor and aftertaste, and with the hops providing a low-key bitterness to nicely complement the sugary sweetness. Robust and delicious.
