12 oz. into Duvel tulip. Have been picking out more beers with dogs on the labels lately since my 4-year old has expressed a significant interest in dem pooches.
Excellent bready light ginger-colored head-almost a root-beer style. Root beer-colored body, too (usually you don't have one without the other, I've noticed, but there are exceptions of course)...woody dark brown chocolate malt. Lacing is decent.
Not getting a huge aroma from this. A little balsa wood - maybe some pine sap. Fair amount of chocolate malt - maybe some Germanic Marzen stuff in there. Quite light but a little creamy.
Can get the chocolate malt but it's quite faint. Hops are subdued - a little pine and grass. Pretty austere - not huge.
Mouthfeel is reasonably decent for style - malt comes through with some warmth. Finish is strong and malty.
This is a solid sessionable brew. Straightforward if not exceptional.
