Poured into a pint glass.
A: Pours a pretty, clear ruby-brown color. Off-white head retained and laced nicely.
S: Sweet nose of toasted barley, caramel and a whiff if chocolate. I also caught a hint of hazelnut. Very nice.
T: Nice and smooth melding of flavors, including caramel, toffee, chocolate, hazelnuts, walnuts, and even a bit of earthy hops to add some balance. Gets even better as it warms.
M: Solid medium body and adequately carbonated. Again, very smooth and leaves a pleasant nutty aftertaste.
D: A quite drinkable brown ale. A good candidate for a session brown.
I wasn't expecting much from this one, but boy, am I glad I tried it! The flavors blend so well and it feels so smooth, I couldn't help but love it. Definitely give this a shot if you can get it.
