Poured into a mug. The beer is a nice, mahogany brown, red highlights in the light. Cream-colored head of about two fingers with good retention and lacing. Nose is bitter chocolate over sweet malt. No hops in the nose.
Moderate-heavy body--a pleasant surprise--due to a good amount of roasted malt, blending light coffee and deep chocolate flavors up front. Slight bitterness to the finish and a nutty taste. Slightly creamy texture with a "warm" finish that reminds me of a porter.
A lower ABV makes the beer thoroughly drinkable, and sessionable besides. I wish I had another six pack. This is a heartier brown ale than many, and is one of my top five browns out of several dozen I've tasted.

Pour from can purchased at Distellers Outlet in Poway CA. Dark brown with a big off white head. Nice lacing. Smell is incredible. Vanilla, brown sugar, honey. Taste is very pleasent. Malts and a nutty tinge with hints of vanilla, defintley getting some chocolate too but its very faint. I purchased just one can, next time I'll get a sixer of this, really enjoyable.

A- dark brown with Carmel edges. Two finger head which dies down but retains a little. Slight lacing
S- subdued roasted barley, toast, a little fresh black coffee, light hops. Rather inviting.
T- Roast barley, sweet malt, light caramel, herbal hops creep in, which is slightly off putting. Long bready finish.
M-Full bodied and not too effervescent. Really really nice.
O- Solid American brown ale. Not cloying. Very pleasant on a chilly evening.
