Had this one from a bottle down in the OBX. How fresh it is< I don't know since it seems like they're being canned now.
Anyway...
Color is dark brown with chestnut/ruby/garnet highlights. on top sits a thick and strudy tan head. Sticky lacing as foam fades leaving a thick foamy ring. Carbos: dificult to say but I will say above average.
Quite aromatic with rich roasted malts being the dominate aroma. Roasted, coffee and hints of chocoalate are present. Hops are there but linger more in the background, not very assertive
Taste is of course malty, It has a complex taste with sutle hints of roasted malts, chocolate and nuts. I'd lean towards hazelnuts.
hops are present in the flavor but they provide a more bitter aspect to the beer. Hop flavor doesn't seem to be present.
Full bodied beer here with some grittiness or coursness. I get a nice hoppy/roasted malt aftertaste that lingers.
This a good beer and very drinkable ranks up there with DFH India brown ale and Bell's Best though Bells is more of a traditional brown.

It comes in a dark brown color, almost like a porter.

The aroma has mocha, lightly roasted coffee, heavily toasted bread, a caramel sweetness, lots of hazelnut.

The flavor follows with that hazelnut flavor, lightly roasted watery black coffee, a cocoa flavor, and then onto a lightly herbal finish. The beer robust characteristic almost similar to a really light porter.

Just an absolutely forgotten gem in the style.
