This one should be among one of the best BIG Daddy Ales. Pours a very dark amber color with a very frothy thick head over the ale.

You receive a nice hint of the malts in your nose with a sugar and spice accent

Very nice sweet smooth taste up front with the spice flavoring hitting you at the end. I thought this ale might have been to sweet at first but after further review its perfectly balanced.

The mouth feel is very nice medium to full with a very little hit of dryness at the end.

Over all this is one of the more perfectly balanced ales, the balance of malts and sweetness keeps you coming back for more. The brewing was very well done you could not ask for anything better. This is the perfect ale for the holiday season. I would recommend this to everyone.

I like Avery offerings.
A: Dark..Red to purple highlights.
S: Earthy? Definitely something kind of funky. But in a good way.
T&M: It took me a couple sixers to really appreciate this one. Malty sweet, but enough of everything to go around.
D: A fantastic sipper. Even if it gets to room teperature.

pours a very dark brown color with a one inch light tan head that holds well and a good amount of lacing. fresh coffee smell along with some fruity notes. taste, again fresh brewed mild coffee with ripe fruit in the background some kind of melon maybe? also slightly sweet tasting. mouthfeel is light, very smooth, and light to medium carbonation. overall a nice fall, winter very drinkable beer.

Pours a clear, cherry mahogany body with a small, but persistent beige head. Sticky, patch lace is all over the glass as the contents slowly disappear. Even near the finish, the small tan head can be rejuvenated with a slight swirl of the glass.

Aroma is of major maltiness up front. Molasses and dark fruits are all over the place. Figs and dates, some chestnut nuttiness, and some woodsy hops add complexity. An unusual, but pleasant, hops variety is going on here, in the background.

Mouthfeel is full bodied, thick and creamy. Very coating.

Taste is dominated by molasses and dark fruits. Some tart apples and cherries make an occasional foray into the flavor profile. There is a distinct woodsy and earthy character to this, that seems to derive more from the hops than the yeast. There are hints of spruce and allspice in the woodsy background scenery. Enormous complexity here, as each new sip unveils additional and complimentary flavors. Alcohol is noticed only in the aftereffect. The finish is caramel apple, dipped in spiced rum.

Extraordinary complexity of flavors. This strong old ale begs for your friendship, and your time. Spend a pleasant evening with this "ole fellar", and sip the night away with an American classic.

Opened a 2011 vintage on 11-25-12. What a difference a year makes! This is a totally different beer from when I purchased a year ago. The strong coffee and anise flavors meld nicy together into brown sugar and caramel. Do your self a favor and buy a six pack for 2013/2014.

A - Deep mahogony brew that is dark purple in the light with a solid 1 finger head and tons of great looking sticky lace.

S - Roasty and smokey chocolate malt with hints of caramel and wood. No trace of any "winter spices." And that IMO is a good thing!

T - Nutty and extremely malty. Rich milk chocolate, bitter dark chocolate, and coffee with cream and sugar. Very nice finish with a lingering aftertaste of chocolate and a tiny bit of alcohol (and no real residual bitterness for such a "stouty" beer). This is quite exeptional.

M - Thick, fullbodied, and creamy. A little bit slick and sugary...excellent desert brew.

D - Pretty damn good. The extrra full body and the sweetness may hinder sessionability, but that's not the point with this beer. Sip slowly and enjoy this wonderful winter warmer!
