Picked this up in a mixed six at Al's of Hampden recently. Poured out a dark ruby brown from the bottle into my Duvel tulip. Modest head with little retention and a bit of lacing evident.

Smell is malty and sweet, not much hops evident but not overwhelming "fruity" either.

Taste is a smoky malt with a bit of chocolate.

Mouthfeel is a bit chewy and thick with minimal carbonation.

Drinkability would be limited on this one for me - one at the end of the evening is ok.

Not my favorite style by far but this is certainly a well made beer.

A- Dark brown beer with a small head and some lacing

S- some dark fruit notes, very malty

T- leather notes, light tones of dark fruit, dark brown sugar, biscuit notes

M- medium carbonation

Overall, this is a decent beer nothing to complain about nothing to rave about.

12 ounce bottle from Hollingshead's in Orange during their Christmas in July celebration

Very dark with a sweet chocolately smell

Not my favorite of Avery's beers, but then again all their beer is good

Very strong and thick which makes it harder to drink than most other winter beers

Aged well with the seven or eight months it has been in the bottle

Worth checking out!
