A- Very dark ruby color that is nearly opaque. Superbly clean, no hazyness at all. Small head that quickly disappears and not a ton of lacing. Looks like there isnt much carbonation. Curious to try this one and figure it out.

S- A hint of alcohol on the nose followed by cherries, figs, spice, english toffee, and a little vanilla. This beer smells pretty good. Not a massive aroma, mind you, but theres a lot of different stuff in there.

T- The flavor starts with dark fruit and vanilla and works its way to a little spicy hops. There is a good amount of sweet malt in there and maybe some nuttyness. Slight alcohol on the back end with a lingering spice flavor. Not quite a "christmas"flavored ale, but has some nice qualities to battle the cold months.

M- This beer is somewhat lighter than expected, but the moderate to low amount of carbonation keeps it from getting to fizzy. Lighter bodied but enjoyable.

O- This beer really shows good flavors of vanilla, cherries, dates, some chocolate, almonds, and a touch of spicy hops. It isn't quite a holiday spiced beer, but it is still one to enjoy by the fireside. I recommend a sixer to get through the winter.

Picked this up recently to start off the holiday season, now that I'm done with the fall beers. I thought this would be too strong but the alcohol wasn't detectable and this went down easier than I thought. Like most Old Ales, this wasn't hoppy but the roasted malts more than made up for it and this was certainly worthy of being offered during the holiday season!

This poured a deep brown with just a hint of lacing and an average head to match. The carbonation was nice and the roasted nature of this beer was complemented nicely by the leather and peat aspects of this. As much as this felt like an Old Ale, this reminded me of a Winter Warmer without the spice or a Scotch Ale. I probably don't have a enough experience with this style but given how aggressive the alcohol was, it's obvious that this is something to be savored slowly.

For a cold day, I supposed this would be a decent choice since the alcohol could warm up anyone who polished off a bottle of this. There's not enough flavor and uplifting aspects to this to justify enjoying this often but once in a while, this would be a good beer to down without much thought. This is a relatively quiet old ale and for anyone who can get past the amount of booze in this, this is a sufficient beer for this time of the year.
