Pours a lovely deep burnt amber. Cloudy with yeast. Bits are in suspension. A one and a half finger head of tight carbonation rises thick lick shaving cream and slowly recedes. Lacing streaks the path down to where a thin foam rest on top of my Chimay chalice. I stays throughout.

Smell is of sweet dark fruit, figs, dates, Belgian spice and malt. Light in its tenor but appealing enough to draw you in to deeper sniffs. As it warms the aromas develop into something more sophisticated but more difficult to dissect. The spices make themselves known, and mature the olfactory experience.

Taste is wonderful. Caramel malt, and corriander are at the front. Candy sugar and more malt hold the body together. A surprisingly present hop bitterness in the finish combined with notes of coffee, toffee and clove. Lovely. A real winner in my book. As it warms the bittering aspects develop but never take over the sweet and malty signature of the taste. The corriander/clove aspect helps here. Delectable. The finish gets dryer and more captivating as I make my way through the bottle.

A delicately weighty mouthfeel encourages bigger sips than the 9% abv would indicate. I taste none of this initially and it only show up at the end of the 22 oz. bottle NOT the first glass. Deceptively strong stuff here.

At the aforementioned abv drinkability is a relative term. It encourages frequent trips to the glass with its hidden alcohol. Beware though it does show up. Having said that it lends itself wonderfully to a night of session sipping after the first bottle.

A - Pours a hazy reddish brown with a two-finger foamy white head. Light sticky lacing.

S - Light amount of Belgian yeast, banana, and dark fruits (raisins and plums).

T - Taste is of sweet malts, banana, pear, honey, clove with white pepper in the finish.

M - Medium bodied with low carbonation. Very syrupy mouthfeel. Dry finish.

O - A very nice Belgian strong ale. Very easy drinking despite he ABV.

Collaboration not litigation batch #7

Enjoyed this in a delirium tulip glass

Poured a soft off white 1 finger head which quickly dissipates and is deep mahogany in color

Upfront this beer has a sweet toffee/caramel malt flavor with some dark fruit and little hop presence. Finishes strong with med-high carbonation and extremely pleasant alcohol warmth.

Closest thing we can get to russian river on the east coast and it doesn't disappoint!
