The Belgian and Belgian-style brews are growing on me, so I thought I'd try an outing by Avery.
A - Pours a cloudy golden orange with minimal head retention. Deep and pourous, it just looks complex.
S - Smells faintly sweet, of bananas and citrus, but nothing much else present in the snifter I poured it in.
T - Didn't really know what to expect, I braced myself for full flavor and that's what I got. I mean, it really surprised me when it hit my mouth. Entirely generous malts, a whole-hearted effort of sweetness that blends the alcohol well. I knew what to expect after first taste, but it kept surprising me with every sip.
M - Smooth, goes down sweetly, creamy.
D - Find some friends who like Golden ales, it's a lot to put down by yourself. Still, very drinkable.

Appearance: Pours dark gold in color. Streams of carbonation rush to the top of the glass. Inch of frothy white head that dissipates quickly but thin layer of head is retained for the length of the drink. Clear, no sediment. Looks delectable!
Smell: Sweet malts, caramelly. Hard to distinguish hop aroma. Distinctly belgian yeast; slightly funky, sweet and strong.
Taste: Sweet, slightly fruity (green apples?). Funky/musty taste characteristic of belgian yeast shines through but balanced well by the sweetness. Dangerously smooth for it’s strength.
Mouthfeel: Complex flavors lend to a full body, but the malts maintain lightness. Smooth start to finish. Medium carbonation. Alcohol taste lingers on the top of the mouth.
Overall: I’ve enjoyed this beer more times than I can count, on tap or bottled. It’s always a favorite, never disappointed. Accurate as a Belgian golden, but never boring for the palate!
