Untill very recently Avery had not been sold in Oklahoma so I was excited to try their highly regarded brews. Apperance is typical of a strong pale ale in regards to color. Wonderfull clear golden color, with a nice amount of bubbles. The head was a bit off as it died very quickly. The smell was a bit better, nice floral smell, along with some bitterness to it. The taste was good, very clean very crisp, nice strong tart flavors, and a dry yeast finish. Medium bodied, and nice alcohol warming.
Overall not my favorite strong pale ale, the weak head did it for me the most. In the end it didnt really fit the style all that well. Still it is a good brew and worth a try.

Pours a bright golden orange that is pleasingly cloudy with a good one-inch beige head that is super creamy but eventually settles to a film. Okay retention; good sloppy lacing.
Orange creamsicle with a big yeast smell and spicy phenols.
Crisp and dry. Lots of bitter orange and a yeasty backbone. Some rich hop flavors rise at the end and take a while to leave you. All-in-all, very tasty.
Crisp and almost-chewy. Medium body and creamy carbonation.
I was not expecting much from a Belgian Style, but this is quite good. First, it is not filtered (like other "Belgian" beers I have had from Avery) and is quite nice to look at. Second the smell and taste are pretty in sync, giving a good profile of the yeast with a lot of good hops at the finish. The yeast gets a little chalky as you work your way through it, but other than that, it is quite good.
Would have again; worth trying if you're around it.
