pours a dark brown to black in my NB Globe. 2 fingers of dense light brown foam. recedes after about 3-5 minutes to a single layer of tiny bubbles.
aroma has a nice tart cherry and funk waft. slight pumpernickel bread and rose pedals.
for being in the bottle for 10 months, i was expecting a much more puckering of a beer. I was very impressed with its balanced sourness. Currently Brabant is more tart than sour; its not that puckering yet. Very enjoyable montmorrency cherry and a distant zin character; slightly peppery and earthy. Seems to have a minimal zin barrel influence.
Brabant is fairly light bodied and appropriately carb'd. Expectations of a thick and chewy beer are dismissed based on the appearance.
This beer is terrific right now; i cant wait to see how my stash evolves over the next few year. Cheers to Adam and Breezly to a beer well done!

Served in a Dirty John's tulip pint glass.
What better place to pop this than a random get-together in a buddy's basement? It pours a deep sienna topped by a finger of off-khaki foam. The nose comprises sharp red wine grapes, light French oak, a hint of vinegar, light tart cherry, and something beneath it all that seems like light pumpernickel. The taste brings in more of the same, with the tartness even sharper than expected, though not enough to induce wincing. The pumpernickel comes into its own in the finish, almost creating something of an after-dinner chocolate kind of effect. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a dry, sticky finish. Overall, a solid sour blast, one that brings the pain without overdoing it (though just barely).
