Pours a clear orange color with a nice white head that forms easily, retains well, and leaves nice lacing.
Nose is pretty WC centric with big citrusy hops and a resinous malt sweetness lurking.
Taste follows. A pretty nice WC style IPA. Grapefruit and pine like hops dominate, but are every so slightly subdued by the tiny bit of age here. The malt presence is right where it should be, lurking in the background while providing backup vocals. There is a slight dirtyness to the hop profile that im not sure i like, but its not incredibly noticeable.
Mouthfeel is solid, right where it should be for the style as far as viscosity, carbonation is perfect, not alot to complain about here. Pretty durned dry.
Drinkability is solid...for those of us that like hops anyway. Could easily rock two bombers of this alone.
Overall, actually a pretty nice DIPA from avery. Nothing they make has ever even come close to rivaling fresh maharaja, but this one is a great effort. If you like WC style DIPA, then give this one a shot.
