Pours a golden straw color with violent carbonation. Super chunky, stiff head that will not dissipate and tons of sticky lacing.
The smell is heavy with perfume like floral hops, almost like potpourri. I also catch some citric orange, light pine and some notes of hay.
Bang pow!! Aggressive bitter pine right off the jump. There is a toffee like sweetness in there, but it is greatly overshadowed by the astringent gin-like pine bite that couples with the apparent alcohol nips at the sides of your tongue. As it warms the malts start to emerge a bit revealing more of a toasty molasses sweetness and more alcohol, but the stand out characteristic is the violent pine.
The mouth is on the thin side while remaining very sticky feeling. Even though there is champagne like visible carbonation, very little comes through in the mouthfeel.
Overall, high on the boozy scale and I know it's a DIPA, but this brew comes off a little too one dimensional for me. This beer tastes like watery tanquery. I will struggle to polish off this bomber.
