I had this fresh on tap at the brewery and enjoyed it quite a bit. The maltiness is outrageous. It still has the caramel sweetness of a DIPA, but hops are a bit subdued. I’m guessing this wouldn’t be very good in a can, but if you want to try a DIPA that leans toward the malts rather than fruit and hops give it a try.

Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a burnt orange color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of floral hops, malts. Taste is floral, herbal, very little bitterness for a DIPA, an unusual aftertaste. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall I am disappointed with this beer.

Legacy release 12oz can, canned Sept 12, 2022
On the pour 3 fingers of fine off white head formed that over a few minutes becomes rocky and dissipates to a thick cap that leaves decent lacing. Body is a hazy golden amber.
Smell is more subdued than most modern IPAs let alone an 8%+ IPA. Very spicy and floral hops with some citrus rind coming in on the finish. A touch of caramel malt sweetness.
Taste is crushable, with an immediate smack of bitterness balanced by malt sweetness. The bitterness of the hops fades quickly leaving a nice herbal floral hop flavor with some lingering citrus rind bitterness. The whole time a solid malt backbone carries it through to the finish. Crushable and bright.
Feel is verging on dangerous. Super refreshing to drink with no warning of the ABV until you're feeling it since you probably drank it a little too fast. Despite the easy drinking for an imperial feel, the finish is long woth a full malty body. It's just a really well balanced beer.
Overall, I was impressed. Most of these Avery legacy releases are pretty legit, and are truly old-school "WCIPAs". Actual malt backbone, with big but balanced bitterness, and a hop bill that isn't just juice overload.

Appearance – Two finger head on a cloudy brownish-orange body with a LOT of tiny floaters.
Aroma – Citrus, caramel, toffee, a little buttery. Note that this beer is a few years old.
Taste – Caramel, a little buttery on the finish, with a long slow bitterness.
Mouthfeel – Not bad but not spectacular.
Overall – Glad I tried it but wish I had tried it fresher.

The appearance had a cloudy/hazy golden orange colored body with a one and a half fingered white foamy head that rises just a bit and then falls leaving some nice slightly foamy sticky lacing gracing the sides of the glass. The smell had a large amount of grapefruit up front, some pineapple coming through as well in a really nice juicy sort of way, a slight maltiness comes through as it warms, what a nice invitation! The taste was slightly spicey but a sort of strong sweetness from the previously mentioned flavors trying its hardest to come out, a peppery/spicey aftertaste, quick dry spicey finish. On the palate, it sat about a light to medium, somewhat sessionable, carbonation is slightly felt for a DIPA, however, it seems just a tad under carbonated to me as I was expecting something just a bit sharper. Overall, I would say this is a good DIPA that I’m pretty sure I would have again.

Well that's just a pretty beer. Orange and amber, always looks good, solid 1" head and retention. Aroma is citrusy dry hops.
Taste is phenomenal, lots of citrus and green hop notes, plenty of caramel in the body but it doesn't have the excessive bitterness that so often accompanies that kind of malt bill. There's some sweetness and thickness, but the hops are so varied and flavorfull, it kind of forgives the malt bill.
