Had this on tap at Mad Mex, review from notes.
Crystal clear garnet color, glows in the dim bar light. Served in a snifter with a frothy, yet extremely silky head on it. Left an admirable lace blacketing across the back of my glass. Not much more I could possibly ask for.
Smells of sweet pine resin and crisp winter needles. There's also bitter grapefruit and a grassiness to the hops.
Definitely a sipper. The alcohol is apparent and the hops are quite bitter. Nevertheless, the beer initially drinks quite smoothly. There's loads of pine and a mild oakiness as the beer goes down.
Medium bodied, very dry, with stinging hops on the tip of the tongue as it goes down. Quite warming for an IPA.
A commendable brew worth trying. But the huge hop bite and the strong alcohol limited me to one glass. The price seemed steep as well.
Serving type: on-tap
