Attractive scantily-clad lady label art; gold foil-wrapped neck and crown; classy-looking example of packaging. The chilled bomber bottle of DuganA pours clear and persimmon-tinted copper in color and sports numerous streamers of fine internal carbonation feeding a glossy, two finger-thick, ecru-toned eggshell-colored cap of foam. The head retains stubbornly at a rocky cloudlike wallop, and as the encounter passes, fine-grained droopy rings of lacing adorn the innards of my miniature shaker-shaped Foothills taster glass. Ensuing repours into the small vessel fluff up the creaminiess of the bubble-factor and increase the lace-sticking capacity to an unbroken glass-coating sheet, boosting my scoring opinion by an additional half an appearance point.
The aroma is nutty-sweet and lightly toasty with a fruity edge of ripe mango and juicy orange. A sweet floral note laced with green herbs and a bit of raw pinesap add to the olfactory experience.
The taste is citrusy and bitter pine-sticky with a backing of lightly-toasted nuts. A note of semisweet caramel and dry, mellow woodiness complicate things further, but pleasantly so. As the beer warms a touch, sweeter, tangier citrus-fruity notes emerge, as does a dab of creamy spun honey. The finish is drying with a little hoppy pucker, but the beer lingers grassy and sweet on the palate awaiting another sip.
The drink is on the fuller side of medium-bodied with extremely fine and proportionate carbonation. Drinkability is very high, especially so considering the 8.5% ABV denoted on the label.
