22oz bomber into a pint glass. No freshness dating was noted on the bottle.
A - Pours a hazy amber color with a moderately frothy white head. Decent lacing and head retention. Visible carbonation.
S - Sharp piney hops and a light caramel malt sweetness are present. There's a hint of grapefruit aromas, but it's fairly subdued.
T - Big hop forward flavors up front with a biting bitterness. Very juicy flavors. The finish leaves your mouth dry. Nice malty notes of caramel and toffee as well as a candied fruit taste. Bitter, but not "brutally bitter." Alcohol is hidden pretty well and only comes through as the beer warms.
M - The mouthfeel is a light, but still smooth. Medium carbonation - a good amount for the style. Slight oiliness with a drying finish.
D - Very enjoyable DIPA, but I still prefer Maharaja. I guess it's good that this is a rotating release because at the $8.99 I paid for the bomber, I couldn't see this being a regular with so many great DIPA's out there.
