Went to Avery today pick this up as we left. I though this beer would be fresher when I bought it, I believe it was made sometime in Sept.
22oz bomber poured into my greenbush pint glass. Had some chex mix between tastes.
A&S: piney and skunky/dank hops come through but overall the hoppyness is more in the background then I would want, more malts than I would expect. Lively transparent orange colored beer. Great retention on the head, pours at a finger, stays at a half finger. Columns of lacing.
T&M: After the smell I was mildly surprised by a well represented hoppyness in the taste. A clean alcohol taste is present, but not overwhelming. I'm getting a fair amount of citrus in the taste, which I didn't get at all in the aroma. Semi-bitter to pretty bitter (but not as much as I would expect from the 93 ibu), fairly clean finish. Medium bodied, mediumish carbonation.
Overall: Pretty good, I was impressed, but my mind wasn't blown. Even though it was under 3 months old, I would still want to try this stuff super fresh, maybe next rotation. Wouldn't buy all the time, I think there are other DIPA's out there that give you this quality for less money (about 10 bucks for 22oz).
