22 oz. into a snifter
P: Orangish copper with 2 fingers of light khaki-colored soapy foam that showed good retention before it settled to a thick sheet on top. Didn't leave a whole lot of lace behind to look at, though.
A: Some citrus fruits right upfront hit me first with impressions of the usual west-coast suspects: grapefruit, pineapple, lemon, etc. Riding up behind it is a healthy dose of pine hops, with some caramel malt underneath. Not explosive, but smells promising none the least.
T: The taste is almost the complete opposite of the nose in that the citrus fruits are nothing more than background flavors after their initial splash on the palate. They are quickly overtaken by a wave of resinous pine sap that turns it much more dank and bitter than the aroma would lead you to believe. Not explosively hoppy in the least, but I don't think that's what they're going for here. The caramel malt balances everything out while providing a little sweetness that almost takes the edge off the bitterness, but not quite.
M: This is a medium-bodied DIPA that features a CO2 level that allows it to get slightly creamy underneath the dry, sharp, prickly stabs that bite the tongue on the way down.
Notes: Personally, I prefer my DIPA's to lean more heavily towards the citrus fruit notes than this one does. But I can't knock it too much, its still a pretty good showcase for the piney hops to get some love. It's a little one-dimensional yeah, but a cool change of pace from the citrus hop bombs I'm usually drinking. Solid

Poured 22oz bomber into New Belgium globe
A-Pours clear golden amber with rising fizzy three finger white head. Great lacing.
S-Aroma is toasted and caramel malts, intense floral hops, light grass, light herbs, and some pear.
T-Flavor is fresh hops forward with some toasted malts, light caramel sweetness, and grapefruit esters; dry finish with lingering hop bitterness.
M-Wonderful mouthfeel that has a medium body and low carbonation.
O-overall a great DIPA very smooth and tasty. No date on bottle but tasted fresh.
