650 mL bottle at refrigerator temperature poured into a snifter.
A - Pours a ruddy brown, cloudy body with a thin, slightly uneven head formation.
S - Floral honey, pineapple, pine, and an almost cinnamony spice - really nice balance of sweet and pungent. Very complex and hard to pin down. Much, much different from the "standard" IPA nose. There are some medicinal, band-aid esters that show their face as the brew warms, though.
T - Really good progression from a sweet attack to a pleasingly bitter finish. Flavor profile reminds me of apricots, pine needles, and meyer lemons. A weird combo, I know, but it works.
M - A little too sweet for my tastes, but the brisk carbonation helps to lift some of that away. The well-tempered bitterness of the hops is a nice complement to the residual sweetness.
D - Definitely an out-of-the-box IPA. I dig it. A lot darker than most IPAs - I think it makes this beer way more accessible for food pairings. I'd love this beer with BBQ, charcuterie, or roast duck. For some reason, I'm thinking that meat would be the best match for this brew. At any rate, get your hands on this brew - a solid showing from the folks at Avery.

Poured 22oz bomber into New Belgium globe
A-Pours clear golden amber with rising fizzy three finger white head. Great lacing.
S-Aroma is toasted and caramel malts, intense floral hops, light grass, light herbs, and some pear.
T-Flavor is fresh hops forward with some toasted malts, light caramel sweetness, and grapefruit esters; dry finish with lingering hop bitterness.
M-Wonderful mouthfeel that has a medium body and low carbonation.
O-overall a great DIPA very smooth and tasty. No date on bottle but tasted fresh.
