Notes/Commercial Description:
"a contemporary rendition of a classic style. Hopped with purpose, Joe's is beautifully bitter and dry with an abundance of floral, Noble German hops. Uber-sessionable. Utterly American. This is Premium American Pilsner."

Poured into a Samuel Smith pint glass on 5/11/11

Thin, pale, almost watery straw color with golden highlights. With the exception of a mild haziness it's quite clear. Two fingers of white, fluffy foam. Retention is thinner but is good and a half wall of lace.

Smells really nice. The Noble hops are in full force. Prairie grass, fresh-cut hay, lemon zest, soft spiciness and floral overtones. Pilsner malt takes a back seat to the hops, blending in subtle notions of toasted grains.

A mild bitterness greets the palate and quickly turns in favor of grassy and lemon-zest hops. Definitely earthy. There's a bit of a spicy twinge but it isn't the focal point. Malts have a more prominent role than in the aroma. Toasted grains and crackers.

Basically light bodied with a granular feel. Carbonation is tilted toward the lesser side of moderate which suits me just fine; it's far from prickly and stays out of the way of the flavors. Clean finish with hints of lemon-grass.

Nice drinking beer. Clean and flavorful without lots of carbonation of too crisp a feel. Nothing wrong with that; just a nice change of pace. As an American Pale Lager this is choice.

Pours two fingers of head on a clear light straw colored body. Looks great.
The aroma is lemon with a little funk in the background. I'm not sure what that's about.
The taste is generally mild, some light to moderate lemon bitterness shows up midway through. The finish is shorter and a touch sweet with a dry bitter note at the very end.
The texture is crisp with moderate carbonation.
Nice, not great though.
