Passion Fruit, Fruity, Tart, Bitter

Cloudy pale yellow with a short-lived, snappy head, Liliko'i Kepolo has a fruity, wheaty, bready and spicy nose. It’s tart and bitter, but not overly acidic. Tropical and juicy with plenty of delicious passion fruit flavors and a tamed sweetness. The bitterness is a bit grassy with a pleasing edge of citrus zest, followed by a dry wheat character, soft spices and some doughiness. The addition of passion fruit is a sublime twist on the Witbier style and it makes for a great tequila back, too.

On tap at Avery. Pours a slightly-hazed yellow-straw color. Light passion fruit. Quite fruity. Subtle, but absolutely there. Delicious. Super drinkable; had to get a second glass of this one. (191 characters)

Look: Cloudy, thick, off yellow color.

Smell: Passion fruit up front hint of sweet smells and wheat.

Taste: Not what I expected. Not so much wheat but you get the spices and passion fruit.

Feel: Felt like a tart saison or even a sour. No where remotely close to a wheat which for me was a good thing.

Overall: Super tasty beer loved it! (348 characters)

12 oz can. Pours extremely hazy dark yellow with a huge frothy white head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is lots of sweet tropical fruit (passionfruit I assume) with some wheaty malts.

The flavor is sweet and tart tropical fruits with some wheat malts and a little Belgian yeast. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, tastes like a mild wit with lots of tropical fruit juice. I like it. (446 characters)

On tap at the Avery Tap Takeover at The Common Table.

The beer pours a hazy golden color with a white head. The aroma is extremely fruity. I get a lot of passion fruit and other tropical fruit notes, as well as some wheat. The flavor is more of the same. The passion fruit, orange and pineapple and mango notes are really fresh tasting. I also get some biscuit and wheat notes, as well as a little bit of white pepper and a light amount of tartness. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. A great fruit beer that went very well with brunch. (543 characters)

Straw yellow to almost neon yellow in color. A fingernail of eggshell white coats the top. Light lacing. Aroma of passion fruit and a hint of coriander and a bit of pale wheat is present. I taste sweet passion fruit and there's a slight taste of coriander and pale wheat. The mouth is light, crisp, and refreshing. A great twist on this style. (350 characters)

Really love the passion fruit in this one! Very nice dose of spice and ample tartness in the sip. Very refreshing and palate-cleansing. Highly recommended witbier! (163 characters)

12 ounce can served into an oversized snifter.

Pours like pineapple juice and looks like such, cloudy and heavily frothy. Sticky lacing. 4.5

It smells like sticky, pungent fruit. Certainly passionfruit but also something like pineapple. There's wheat and coriander or some similar spice there. 4.25

Tart flavor arrives, passionfruit and pineapple continue, and there's a wheat and coriander lingering finish. 4

Tart, light, and then a wheaty, malty feel towards the finish offers more body.

This is refreshing and flavorful. Great summer beer. Love that it's in cans. Hard not to like this beer on any account. (615 characters)

Golden/straw colored hazy beer with a big white, fairly quickly subsiding head. Aroma is ultra juicy, all sorts of fruity, passionfruit, citrus, honey, flowers, grains, yeast... Taste is tart followed by sweet, and then tart again but less so. Very juicy. A lot of fruit mingled with farm flowers and evident wheat. Fruit flavors seem to include kiwi, lime, peach and plenty of passionfruit. Fun to drink. (406 characters)
