Alot of fruity esters mix with passionfruit easy drinking in this 100° weather in socal. This is a perfect summer beer.

The beer bursts out of the glass of tropical fruit. It's straight Tropicana mango, orange, and pineapple juice with a wheaty base and finish.

The aromatics on this are incredible and fruit flavors on the palate follow quite well. On tap, it reminds me of a Funky Buddha beer with its absurd aroma.

On tap at Avery. Pours a slightly-hazed yellow-straw color. Light passion fruit. Quite fruity. Subtle, but absolutely there. Delicious. Super drinkable; had to get a second glass of this one.

L - hazy yellowish white amber in color. White head that quickly went away.
S - intense notes of passion fruit
T - very sweet initially with very distinct flavor of passion fruit. Small hints of citrus hops flavor at the tail end but overall a very sweet beer.
F - light and crisp.
O - Avery always impresses. This beer is intense fruity flavor. This paired with a Hawaiian plate lunch would be perfect.

10 oz. draft at GBD (Golden Brown Delicious), unknown brewing/bottling date, drank over 30-60 minutes out of a tulip glass

A: 3/3 - straw yellow coloration, murky (cannot read or see through), initial eggshell head settles into a retained glass lacing with some carb islands, moderate carbonation for style

S: 9/12 - moderate passionfruit and wheat aroma hits immediately; milder coriander, lemon peel and seeds of paradise; a touch of alcohol in the nose

T: 18/20 - on the front of the tongue, there's a slight bitterness that opens the taste buds and gives way to huge passionfruit flavors; there is a moderate wheat malt character that develops over time and mild alcohol notes; finishes dry and inviting of sip after sip

M: 4/5 - light bodied with high drinkability; moderate-to-high carbonation

O: 9/10 - excellent Belgian wit base with a moderate passionfruit nose and enormous passionfruit flavor; very high drinkability to boot and could really crush this if it was more readily available; I'll go out on a limb and call this my favorite Belgian wit - highly recommended if you can find it

TOTAL - 43/50

Really love the passion fruit in this one! Very nice dose of spice and ample tartness in the sip. Very refreshing and palate-cleansing. Highly recommended witbier!

on tap at blind tiger

A- this thing looks like orange juice it is so cloudy orange. You can't see through it at all. Small white head with modest lace.

S- very tropical, tons of passion fruit, pineapple, mango, papaya. A little bit of sour tartness.

T- tropical fruit dominates, but the tartness helps to balance the beer. Dry earthy spice. Prickly carbonation.

O- Shockingly good version of a wit-esque fruit beer. I recommend you get this if you run into it. Tropical flavors lend themselves very well to this beer.

Draft at the tasting room.

Pours a very cloudy and completely opaque pale golden yellow color with hints of golden straw when held to a light.  Looks like a Berlinerweisse with a one finger frothy white head that slowly settles into lasting ring.  Chunks of lacing left behind.

Slightly earthy, spicy aroma with a bunch of citrus fruit, bready yeast and banana notes.  Peppery with lemon zest and coriander/clove as well as a ton of citrus.  Lots of lemon peel and the passion fruit really stands out.

Medium bodied and fuller than expected with a decent amount of dry spice up front that lingers over the bready yeast, banana and promient citrus into a slight dry finish.  Lots of bready yeast and banana complimenting the strong lemon and passion fruit.  This balances the spicy dryness resulting in a complex and very refreshing quaffable beer.

Bright yet opaque golden in color with just a wisp of foam. Can't say that I know what passion fruit smells like but this beer brings tropical fruit such as Guava and mango to mind. Sweet fruit is balanced with just a bit of sourness. Creamy mouthfeel with a clean finish. Highly drinkable.

A real surprise. Delicious aroma and taste of passion fruit with crisp, dry refreshment of a well done witbier. Almost a berliner weisse tartness as some noted. Perfect summer drinking but with real complexity to it.

On tap at the Avery Tap Takeover at The Common Table.

The beer pours a hazy golden color with a white head. The aroma is extremely fruity. I get a lot of passion fruit and other tropical fruit notes, as well as some wheat. The flavor is more of the same. The passion fruit, orange and pineapple and mango notes are really fresh tasting. I also get some biscuit and wheat notes, as well as a little bit of white pepper and a light amount of tartness. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. A great fruit beer that went very well with brunch.

First had: on tap at Barcade, Philly, PA

This beer was listed as "Lilikoi Kepolo," but it seems to be the exact same thing as "Lilikoi Mahu" from what I can tell. The info listed stated that this is White Rascal with passionfruit additionally used in the brewing process.

Served in a 10oz. goblet, a cloudy, opaque, banana-yellow color with a small cap of compact white head that retained well and left a bit of lacing. Aroma is pleasantly passionfruit-dominant, with lesser notes of grassy hops and citrus. Taste-wise, again the passionfruit is heavy and dominant, and extremely good actually. Once the fruit mellows out a bit, lesser notes of pale wheaty malts, citrus zest and hints of yeasty funk. Light-medium body, pleasantly drinkable. I'd almost say this is a chick drink, and it's almost like a mixer. But it's still beer-y enough to the point where it can be enjoyed by anyone.

On tap at the brewery on 9/24/11.

A - Very cloudy straw yellow with a fizzy white head. Leaves nice droopy lace.

S - Sweet with a strong citric acid aroma. Fresh pineapple and orange juice definitely make this a tropical kinda beer.

T - The passion fruit used in the brewing of this beer is really strong in the flavor - I dig it.

M - Crisp and clean.

O - This was a refreshing farewell to summer. Impressive.

From 10/30/13 notes. Had this on tap at Blind Tiger in NYC at their Avery event. PRetty expensive for an 8 oz glass.

a - Pours a hazy yellow-orange color with one inch of bright white head and moderate carbonation evident.

s - Smells of passion fruit, tropical fruits, fruity malts, spice, pineapples, juice, and light floral and citrus notes. Awesome nose; the passion fruit comes through huge and give it a great tropical fruity nose. Love it.

t - Tastes of fruity malts, wheat, grains, tropical fruits, passion fruit, spice, yeast, and citrus. Nice taste for sure, but not as sweet as the nose and less tropical fruits, and passion fruit, in general compared to the nose. Good but a step down.

m - Light to medium body and moderate to high carbonation. Perhaps a touch too carbonated but otherwise really good and easy to drink.

o - Overall I liked this one a lot, and it is definitely a beer you could have more than one glass of. Easy to drink and light with a great tropical fruity nose. Worth checking out and would love to have again, especially if you like witbiers.

Picked up an unmarked 12oz can from an undisclosed source for no cost - thank you! Poured into a standard shaker glass.

Appearance is an extremely unfiltered golden hue, frothy white head, decent retention, no lacing. Aroma has tons of tropical fruit up front, especially pineapple and lime, light spice aroma. Flavor follows aroma, and man does the copious amounts of wheat work well with all the esters from the yeast and addition of fruit - the tartness keeps all those flavors in check - great balance. Mouthfeel is light and refreshing with good effervescence, creamy body with a crisp finish.

On tap @ Verdugo's 6th Anniversary event.

A: Pours a bright hay yellow with a 1/2" white head which leaves clumpy lace.

N: Intense juicy passionfruit dominates.

T: Passionfruit essence with some grainy wheat and faint tart balanced by sweet.

M: Semi-moderate body and medium carbonation. Fruity finish.

O: Close your eyes and pretend you are in Hawaii. Nice summer beer.

Pours hazy and a bit dark for a wheat beer. Head is stark white, reaches up to a finger and leaves very little on the glass without much retention.

A ton of wheat malt and pungent earthy tropical fruit, neither open or sweet enough to be defined as passion fruit outright. Let's hope there's more to this in the flavor.

And there it is, copious amounts of liliko'i and without the sharp acidity that the fruit alone sometimes produces. The rounded bready and clean wheat malt certainly has enough push back to balance out the fruit.

Smooth carbonation, the slight sweetness and sediment in this beer make it a bit too hard to slam an entire 4 pack. Could be a bit more dry.

Juice for adults. This is a really terrific summer beer using fruit instead of spices to get that refreshing and bright character. Distinctly more American than Belgian in style. The passion fruit here is on point. Will pick this one up again.

Love this beer - especially when the temperature is rising. Not a wit fan, but a perfect balance of tropical fruit and sour/tart acidity make this one a winner. Incredible it now comes in a can as well. The ultimate trailside/concert/tailgating beer - me thinks so.

12 ounce can served into an oversized snifter.

Pours like pineapple juice and looks like such, cloudy and heavily frothy. Sticky lacing. 4.5

It smells like sticky, pungent fruit. Certainly passionfruit but also something like pineapple. There's wheat and coriander or some similar spice there. 4.25

Tart flavor arrives, passionfruit and pineapple continue, and there's a wheat and coriander lingering finish. 4

Tart, light, and then a wheaty, malty feel towards the finish offers more body.

This is refreshing and flavorful. Great summer beer. Love that it's in cans. Hard not to like this beer on any account.

Pours a sandy yellow and white crossbreed, with a nice thick frothy white head and fantastic lacing. Aroma offers some nice passion fruit and slight tartness. Flavor is similar with a great passion fruit presence and some nice moderate tartness. A crisp, active mouthfeel. Overall, Avery with a winner on this one. Loved it.

Look: Opaque, hazy orange in color. Creamy, silky white head has some decent sticking power.

Smell: Heavy on the wheat. Yeast is subtle and has a slight banana quality to it. Some baking spice. A little berry fruitiness hiding in the background.

Taste: Fruit comes to the forefront and is just ever so tart. The Wheat provides a nice stable backbone for this beer. Spicy warmth in the middle and a slightly dry spicy finish

Feel: Pretty full bodied for a witbier. Carbonation isn't as active as I'd have liked.

Overall: If I hadn't seen the can it came in and someone just handed it to me, my mind would have absolutely exploded. Really quite good and exceptionally refreshing.

On tap for the 4th Anniversary event at Blue Palms Brewhouse in Los Angeles, CA.

Pours a murky orange juice color with a foamy tan head that fades to nothing. No lacing on this one. Smell is of malt, grain, passion fruit, tropical fruit, and spices. Taste is much the same and very juice-like with a mild amount of spice bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer that is quite refreshing and tasty.

12 oz can. Pours extremely hazy dark yellow with a huge frothy white head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is lots of sweet tropical fruit (passionfruit I assume) with some wheaty malts.

The flavor is sweet and tart tropical fruits with some wheat malts and a little Belgian yeast. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, tastes like a mild wit with lots of tropical fruit juice. I like it.
