12 ounce bottle from Town & Country Liquor, on to the beer:
Filtered pale orange color with a glow of pale yellow, the head is thick and rocky on top. Good head retention. The nose is certainly adequate. A squirt of citrus, a touch of buttery toffee, peach....seems to get more diacetyl as time passes by. To taste, it starts off with musty diacetyl. A spike of mixed fruits (think fruit snacks) appear about midway through. Minerals appear, alomg with notes of pear. Some bitterenss and a touch of buttery flavor stick around in the aftertate.
A "half-and-half" beer. Half ESB, half amber ale....or so it seems to be the case with a number of American brewed ESB's. Not bad washing down chicken and Santa Fe rice. Oh, and here's to beer review number 1,000!
