06/05/08- Purcahsed at City Beer in San Francisco, CA.
Presentation- 12oz bottle with no freshness indicator. Poured into a standard pint glass.
Appearance- Nutty golden looking colored pour. Super creamy and frothy looking white 1/2 inch head. Leaves behind nice lace sheeting.
Smell- Medium scented nose of fruity and sugary hops with some grassy or hay like notes. A bit of toasted malt as well.
Taste- Very bready malt flavors with a good yeast flavor as well. Hops are quite fruity and grassy at the same time. More orange citrus flavored than grapefruit.
Mouthfeel- Good carbonation level with a short to medium lasting hop bitterness in the aftertaste.
Drinkability- Quite a nice ESB. Almost like an IPA, but has that different malty flavor and grassy hops that set it apart. Worth trying.
