Avery is fucking taking over Indiana. I can't go anywhere without seeing the IPA, this ESB, the White Rascal Wit, and annoyingly, The Czar and The Reverend. I really love the SNPA-on-crack characteristic of the IPA, so I figured i'd be set with the ESB as well. Characteristic of Avery, this sixer cost me a full $10.
The beer pours copper into the glass, but by the end of the beer you are looking down into a creepy florescent yellow in your glass. Not pretty. A great lacing which i've found to be characteristic of this brewery. Poofy, sticky head.
The nose is all bready and doughy without the apple-ly yeast tones I love so much in true English ESBs. The hoppiness which worked so well in the IPA comes off plastic-y and forced here. Something medicinal working in the background as well.
The taste and mouthfeel are horribly gooey and gummy. I swear to god, while i'm drinking this brew all I can really describe it as is drinking malt extract while sucking on some corroded pennies. A total rip-off compared to the much-superior IPA.
Gave away the rest of the six pack.
