Served from a 12oz bottle into a Goose Island wine glass. Vintage 2012.
Appearance- Clear gold with no head or lacing. Looks like a sparkling wine.
Smell-Gueze-like funk, lemon, some white grape, lots of oaky buttery barrel characteristics. Very guezey and buttery. No booze hints at all.
Taste-Oh my. Buttery grapes, lemon, oak, peaches. Almost Sauternes-like but with some real tartness.
Mouthfeel- Well carbonated, tart then sweet, Light heat, very effervescent, Medium body.
Overall- Real nice and different for a barrel aged wild. Looking forward to trying more Avery sours.

not my favorite of the avery barrel series, lots of white grape to this and very little sourness or wild yeast character in nose or taste. hazy blonde beer with not much head and a lot of sweetness to the flavor. mostly wheat malt from what i gather, a well hidden abv strength and lots of bright oak character, a touch of lemon bar type dessert, and that summery grain. a little boring really though, whats most interesting about this beer has likely faded in the time since its release. sweetness from the grape carries all the way though to the finish, and whats missing for me is the interesting or wild yeast that is claimed on the bottle. a cook drink, but a one and done for me, would have loved to try it fresh but it has to be past its prime now, or maybe not to it yet...
