A - pours a deep inky black color. Just a thin fingers worth of mocha colored bubbly foam. Leaves a bit of spotty lacing with each sip.
S - deep and complex nose. Notes of dark chocolate and mocha are most prominent followed closely by lots of sticky, melty caramel. Delicate notes of vanilla, toasted coconut, and sandalwood around the edges. In the center lies the depth of sweet dark and red fruit with a fairly vinous character abundant with black cherry, blackberries and strawberries. All rounded out by a touch of pie crust and spice.
T - silky smooth notes of bakers chocolate on the tip of the tongue along with hints of biscuits and grainy bread. Mocha flavors enter quickly after as the liquid drifts mid-palate where the strong barrel and alcohol notes bring out peppery spice, vanilla and woody notes and licorice. The finish is long with lots of spice and chocolate.
M - full bodied with a velvety texture. Medium carbonation just enough to keep from being cloying.
O - one of the finest barrel aged stouts i've had the please of tasting. I'd love to try some more and have some to age.

2014 bottle from a great trader, poured July 3, 2014. Pours pitch black with a one finger dark brown head, nice and creamy. Aroma of chocolate, mellow bourbon, vanilla, caramel, anise, oak char. Reminds me a lot of Black Note on the nose. Very rich smelling yet not over the top. Flavor follows with a nice vanilla chocolate caramel note, dark fruits, long roasty finish with lingering vanilla, definite char flavors from the oaky bourbon barrels. Huge rich mouthfeel that is right on the nose with low medium carbonation. While this has a hard yet more on the fruity side than I tend to like in the style, there is no question this is world class. The bourbon barrels only accent the flavors and this isn't just some huge bourbon bomb. Nicely done.
