The bottle being reviewed is a 2012 vintage.
A - Typical stout pour - pitch black, opaque, and a thin toffee colored ring around the top of the snifter.
S - Very bourbon forward, oak, small traces of dark fruit, molasses, and dark roasted chocolate.
T - Follows the nose - extremely bourbon forward with noticeable alcohol warming on the way down. Bourbon, oak, light molasses, a hint of vanilla, and dark fruit abound in this sipper from start to finish and a little medicinal on the end.
M - Heavy medium body, sticky, slick.
O - Very well done and I enjoy big barrel aged beers but this one is a little overbearing because the alcohol masks a good portion of the flavor. Being a 2012 bottle and having time to mellow it would be interesting to compare to this year's batch. A definite sipper.
