Thanks to Sam for this one. 12oz. bottle into a Cantillon flute. Shared with schen9303.

Pours a thick light cream colored ring. Beer is a clear dark ruby. Lacing is stringy, patchy, and spotty with decent stick. Nice looking beer.

Nose is raspberry, oak, and a light funkiness. Fruity, sweet and tart overtones. Fresh, clean and appetizing.

Opens acidic, juicy, tart raspberry. Seedy and puckering-ly sour in the middle with notes of Brett funk and oak in the middle. End is more raspberry tartness. Same finish. Pretty one dimensional but enjoyable nonetheless.

Light to medium bodied with ample carbonation. Prickly, slick, and oily in the mouth and aggressive and foamy going down. Puckering finish with a lingering aftertaste. Nice.

Avery's Barrel Aged series has been pretty hit or miss but this is clearly a solid offering. Again, pretty one dimensional but the fruit is very present and the flavor is assertive yet clean and enjoyable. Worth trying.

Raul keeps on chuggin' like the lil engine that could - though only on the 4th cylinder, Raul is feelin' it. And for his next offering: Odio Equum.

Now, Raul himself is a Russian River connoisseur, and Supplication this is not. Good, but not "good good." Raul is feeling it, but he is not "feelin' it feelin' it." A bit thin, a bit acidic, and a bit off.

Like his first HJ, Raul was into it enough, but he knew that there was better.

Authentic raspberry, wild yeast, and wine aromas. Some retained head and lace trail. Fuller mouthfeel. Citrus, tad of funk, wood, cherry, complex notes. A great really tart beer that satisfies, courtesy of Jason Bach. Not for everyday but great for sour fans.

From 03/15/13 notes.

a - Pours a deep reddish brown color with one inch of off white head and moderate carbonation evident.

s - Smells of sour dark fruits, sour cherries, red wine, oak, vanilla, spices, and fruity malts. Very nice nose with a lot of sour dark fruits; really like the nose.

t - Tastes of sour dark fruits, vinegar, sour cherries, vanilla, spices, pepper, fruity malts, must and earthy notes. Nice and sour with a lot of vinegar; very nice.

m - Medium body and moderate to high carbonation, acedic body.

o - Overall I thought this was an awesome wild ale; loads of sour cherries and vinegar, which is right up my ally. Could definitely take down a whole 12 oz. bottle, and would love to get it again.

A big thanks to tjmodica for the bottle. I love this series.

A: Pours a beautiful hazed garnet/brown color. At first a two finger white head forms, but recedes in a minute to a ring that sticks throughout. Some light lace.
S: The nose is amazing. A bit of musky basement funk up front. Tart cherries with a significant sour/vinegar in the nose with an acidic bite. Some vanilla sweetness from the barrels. I love it.
T: That musky basement like funk here as well. Though the sour, vinegar, and acidic bite is much more intense. Tart cherries and a light sweetness. Very good, but maybe just a bit to much sour puckering? Very dry in the finish after the quick sweetness from the barrels.
M/D: A medium body with crisp carbonation. Very effervescent actually. Puckering and crisp that leaves a great dryness. The dryness makes me want to keep coming back for more and more sips. A slow sipper because of the intense sourness, but a very enjoyable one.

Ya, I am a fan of this. The funk and bugs work well here. Almost over barring in the flavor department. Though it still works very well. I am glad I got a bottle.
