growl fill thanks to the fine and dandy folks @ Copper Mine Pub (a good reason to move to North Arlington...)

eyes...
pretty vigorous pour reveals a sparkling white head rising up a mere finger and desperately holding on for dear life, very clear liquid revealing just a modicum of bubbles wandering drunkenly (given the ABV, not a surprise) up the glass, the head fades in just a matter of minutes, lacing is lovely with a cascading sheet of microbubbles clinging to each other like my girl and my credit card, a nice sea shore waves dissipating on the beach vibe, the orange hue is very uniform and clean, pretty good stuff here

nose...
deep orange bordering on grapefruit, stinging herbal hop notes (cone), big pull of underlying sweetness buoying this vessel o' hops, some earth hop tones are also in the mix, smells juicy

taste etc...
quite a mouthful weight wise, this really has a presence in that department, the carbonation is tricky but I like it... what does that mean? hmmm... it sort of almost feels as if the carbonation is absent but it rises up just enough to float the heaviness across your mouth, definite hop oils coating the gaping maw that is my head, the flavor is not crazy raze your mouth to the ground hops but there is a nice kick, is there bitterness? er, yeah, but the malt is really balancing things here, the ABV flavor does peek through here and there so the execution is not 100% on that front, you do get a real nice bitter acerbic hop tone on the back end, that part reminds me of ruination but not quite that bracing

verdict?
a nice drinking experience, a well crafted brew for sure as it scores well without killing all sensation, a nice and thick DIPA that you can sip on for an eve. there is better but this is nicely rounded.

Poured into an impy nonic a clear medium golden with a large blooming one and a half finger white head atop that left multiple rings of broken chunks behind as it settled.Caramel malts and tropical fruits in the nose, sweet but not overly so.I like the full almost airy feel in the mouth,it went down nicely.Flavors of grilled pineapple and citrus with a tinge of vidalia onion the is a little off putting at first but doesn't overpower like another Colorado brewed beer wich I won't name. It's sweet but not nearly as sweet as way to many of the style,a worthy anniversary beer from a solid brewery.

Light brown in color off of the pour. A very light bit of foam remains after the pour. The nose is a faint but it is definitely all about the hops. Faint but apparent grapefruit hops on the nose. The flavoring is all hops with the grapefruit and slightly orange flavor. The hops are what you get in the aftertaste and there is a nice hop fade on the tongue. A pretty brisk mouthfeel and it is fairly refreshing. Very well done.

Appearance: good clarity, orangey with white creamy head

Aroma: very piney, like a fresh cut Christmas tree, citrus aromas as well, biscuity malt

Taste: outrageously piney and grapefruity with an almost indetectable biscuity malt backbone, clean yeast

Mouthfeel: oddly light and crisp for a 9.7% ale. Medium carbonation

Overall: Delicious. Definitely worth a try. A step up from most DIPAs in terms of piney and grapefruity character that literally explodes on your taste buds
