Canned 10 April 2012. Tasted 4 September 2012, reviewed from notes.
Pours pale straw yellow, a very dry yellow. A bit of soft haze clouds the lgass. One finger of white head, starts out pretty and fluffy, but fades to just a thin ring around the surface.
Smells more like a hefeweizen than a wit, but it's nice. Big Belgian yeast, heavy on the spices, especially clove. Some softer spices dancing around that. It feels like a bubble, with this light spice layer floating above a difficult-to-see emptiness.
Taste is clean and crisp, with a touch of hops and a citrus twang. Pretty good, but more inoffensive than impressive.
Mouthfeel is quite good - light, clean, and moderately dry in the finish.
This beer is a little funny. If the can didn't tell me otherwise, I'd guess that it's a hefe, not a wit. But whatever it is, it's tasty. Smell, full of warm spices, is a highlight.
