After getting lunch and some beers at Mountain Sun Pub & Brewery I jumped in a cab and headed for Avery Brewing. This place would have been difficult to find if it wasn't for a cab driver. The location is in the back of an industrial park.

There is an L-Shaped bar on the right side of the Tap Room and tables to the left. After reviewing the beer list, I was mesmerized by the extensive options, so I went with an amalgamation of different samples. You can get 4 oz pours for $1 ($3 for the bigger beers), pints are only $4, which is a really good deal.

On to the epic beer draft options...selections included Joe's Premium American Pilsner, White Rascal, Karma, Jerry's Roggenbier, Ellie's Brown Ale, Out of Bounds Stout, IPA, Dry Hopped IPA, New World Porter, Seventeen Anniversary, dugan A IPA, Salvation, The Reverend, Hog Heaven, 2010 Collaboration Not Litigation Ale, Maharaja IPA, The Czar, Rumpkin and 2009 Beast Grand Cru (16% ABV).

What an amazing selection! All beers I had were ridiculously fresh and served in appropriate glassware.

Must say this was a great visit and had the opportunity try some fantastic beers. I just wish I had more time to stay there and check out of one of their tours, but I had to get back to Denver.

Warm and welcoming is the best way to describe this brewery. The staff are knowledgeable and unpretentious. The number of beers on tap is impressive, the number of notably delicious and unique beers on tap makes me want to live next door. Take the tour when you're there; it's free and you'll get knowledge, beer, and swag (the trifecta of happiness).

Holy crap this place was pricey! Everything was priced about 10-25% higher than every other of the 13 breweries we visited on our trip to Colorado. They even have a special cooler where they price gouge older beers... It was a shame, because I have a local shop in NC that sits on various beers and does the same thing without the gouging. I even snagged an '08 Czar from there recently at under $20. I've also been to plenty of breweries that bust out and sell older beers from time to time as a treat to customers, not as an eBay-esque ploy with 2-3x the price in markup. All the merch was also overpriced. Beer pours were a bit pricey, though that was expected as I knew their bottles were already pricey. Good beer, of course -- that was a known before visiting -- but I wouldn't visit again. It felt more like an amusement park where they take advantage of their fan's wallets rather than enjoy their notoriety.
