Vibe: There are 2 areas at Avery. The restaurant upstairs has more of a laid-back upscale vibe. The bar is more energetic and loud, with a more casual vibe. Both have the same beers on tap. To help understand why Avery's rating is trending upward, you need to know that they just built a new $27 million dollar facility on the outskirts of Boulder (finished last year?) that is next to a small lake and some old massive cottonwood trees. The facility is state of the art, clean, and modern.

Quality: These beers are great. We sampled 5 different beers and they were exceptional. The ding off from 5 is that the pumpkin beer I had was unremarkable and most likely made with canned gourds.

Service: The service was efficient and friendly, helping to guide you into the right beers to try.

Selection: They have 30+ of their own beers on tap. That is beyond impressive. They have the old standbys, the special regular beers, and a bunch of small batch one-offs that are truely unique. I had a lime-raspberry-salted sour beer that was phenomenal.

Food: The food was quite good, we had really tasty legs n thighs served up like jumbo hot wings, and a hot pretzel that was one of the best I've ever had. The mustard was too sweet though. They have some more casual pub fare and some more elaborate bistro type food as well.

Conclusion: This place looks and feels great, the food is tasty and the beer is exceptional. The only thing bad about Avery is the prices are a little steep for a lot of their beers, then again, the beers are pretty special. As with any good place, it can be very popular. $9/5 oz makes for some of the most expensive beer you can find, but it was also the highest rated beer in Colorado.

Laid back vibe, albeit often crowded. The outdoor space is where it's at. Amazing variety of Avery's always enjoyable offerings. Tap room rarities, big BA beers, and awesome sours. The food has been really excellent from what I've tried. Don't pass on the fried chicken. Only complaint, I've had inconsistent results from the growler filler. Had an IPA filled last week, got home 20 minutes later and it was only 3/4 full and low on carb.

EDIT- I mentioned the growler issues yesterday and they explained that some of the insulated growlers like the one I was using are problematic. I brought along a traditional glass growler also and the filled that with no problem and bought me a beer at the bar for my troubles. +1 for service!

A very happening place. I went mid-day during the work week and the place was packed. I found a place to sit at the end of the bar. Pretty relaxed, social atmosphere. Outdoor seating area looked nice and I would have liked to have sat out there, but I was lazy and stayed at the bar. Amazing selection of beers to choose from, all their staples plus many of their special releases, as well as plenty of pilot beers. Honestly, I was blown away with the taplist. Service was really good, friendly and on top of things. Food looked good but I did not get anything while there. Overall, this new Avery taproom is a must visit when in the area. Right there, IMO, with Odell for best taproom experience in Colorado (at least that I have been to so far).

This place was fantastic. Of all the taprooms I've visited, I was most impressed by Avery. The vibe is great, not pretentious but still high-class. The knowledge and friendliness of the wait staff was highly impressive. In most other taprooms I've visited, the servers are usually either one or the other. The beer is outstanding and you can give yourself a small, self-guided tour of some of the brewery. The store upstairs could carry a slightly larger selection of their bottles. After all, this is their brewery... But other than that, outstanding!

This tap room is in the top 5 that I have visited in the country (actually this one and Surly's new beer hall are probably neck and neck for the top spot). The beer list was incredible when I visited. All their top barrel aged beers (Tweak, Pump(KY)n, Uncle Jacobs, etc), and several excellent sours were on tap when I visited. The food was top notch (I ordered the BBQ sandwich with spiced fingerling potatoes). The bar was packed and there was a 45-minute wait for a table on a Sunday at 5pm, but I was able to squeeze into a side bar spot and move to the main bar when the crowds died down a bit. It helped that I was solo. Service was average in the side bar, but was excellent at the main bar. I tried about 12 beers throughout the evening and only tried one I didn't really like (GORED!). The bartender felt so bad that I didn't like that one beer that she gave me another one free of charge. I will definitely be visiting again next time I'm in the area! I've seen several reviews that mention the ridiculous pricing... I found their beers to be very reasonably priced. The only exception was III Dolia at $10/5oz... but I felt the others were priced fairly. I wish they offered smaller sample pours of the big stouts... 5 oz of an 18% stout makes it tough to sample too many other beers!

This place is incredible! This is by far one of my favorite breweries. Living 10 minutes away from here, I'll be going again and AGAIN! The Maharaja is my favorite but they have so many good ones! Great selection, great vibe, and delicious nachos!

I finally made my way to Avery this weekend for their 22nd anniversary party. Great time! I love Avery beer (enough so that we named our dog Avery) and they had a massive selection for the event. Their vibe, beer, employees, and food are all top notch. Avery seems like the very definition of a 5/5 brewery. Now that I'm in the area as a local I'll be seeing a lot more of it.

The deviled eggs and the meat and cheese tray were outstanding. Service was fast, friendly and knowledgeable on the products. Very good experience on a busy Monday afternoon.

Came here for dinner and I was not let down at all. First off the facility is massive and beautiful. Sitting at the bar I saw 30, count them 30 taps! There were so many tasty Avery choices it just made it overwhelming to decide what I wanted. Everything from the light wits to the super high ABV stuff Avery is know for was accounted for. I had a cheeseburger and gouda mash and it was damn tasty. The place was full of people and bustling too. I highly recommend a trip out here. It's so worth it.
