A: Went on Labor day and they were very busy. The have several rooms with tables available
Q: The beers across the line up are clearly good. There were a couple of misses.
S: This was a mixed experience. One bartender basically ignored us (we were at the bar) then another came along and service picked up for us.
Sel: Quite a few beers on tap. Other than the usual big hitters nothing that was really new/unique when we were there.
O: Overall an enjoyable visit. Good but not great.

Avery excels at the small-batch and bomber-packaged beers rather than your standard 6-packs. They really get creative with some of the high-alcohol beers, though on occasion they'll jack up the alcohol content just to say they can. But their stuff is by and large very good. I feel like they're one really good regularly available year-round flavor away from really making the leap.

Came on a Saturday last fall a couple of hours before the Buffs were to play (football). The parking situation around the brewery was hectic and we had to park in a precarious position at the far end of the industrial-looking brewery in which the brewery is housed.

The brewery had a small patio and it was packed to the brim, so my pops and I headed indoors to find it also pretty busy, especially at the bar, but we were able to find a table. We chose just to order from the bar and return to the table but it turns out we didn't need to do this. The service here was pretty good, if not entirely friendly.

We don't get Avery down in New Mexico for some sad, sad reason, so I was eager to try a bunch of the different beers I've heard from others are outstanding. As usual, I opted out of the year round beers in favor of the seasonals and big offerings: Hog Heaven (a barleywine), duganA IPA (a Double IPA) and the Old Jubilation Ale ( a Winter Warmer). All were outstanding and I wanted more. Alas, the price points here were exceptionally high. Even smaller pours of the barleywine and DIPA were more expensive than pours at most breweries and bars. This was a bummer and a huge shock to my dad who's not the beer fanatic that I am.

We decided not to stick around too long due to the high prices, but fortunately there was a bottle cooler right next door to the taproom where I could pick up some Avery bottles to take home.

Despite the high prices, I really like Avery's beers and I will acknowledge that they do have year round offerings that are affordable and tasty (Ellie's Brown, White Rascal), but drinking at the brewery can certainly be an expensive endeavor.

The service was great for being very busy......the beers were they solid.....I had the Oktoberfest (awesome!!!!)....Gored (pumpkin and very thin in character), The Kasier (Oktoberfest) was a little sweet but helped mask the ABV. If you are in the area it's a must visit.

12 oz bottle, poured into a pint glass

Appearance: Poured an extremely dark, almost opaque brown color with no head what-so-ever.

Aroma: Malty and bready up front, like toasted English muffins. Some notes of black pepper, brown sugar and hops.

Taste: Delicious!! Tons of malt and freshly baked dark bread, like pumpernickel, followed by some notes of roasted nuts, black pepper, and some toffee-like sweetness. Some notes of dried fruit as well, dates, prunes, cherries. Good fruitcake in a glass.

Mouthfeel: Chewy and smooth, with no carbonation what-so-ever. With an ABV of 8.3%, there is quite the presence of pleasing alcohol warmth on the palate.

Overall: Damn, this is a great beer! I love the toffee and the malt and the nuttiness. Simply an outstanding Christmas ale! Highly recommended!

Located just outside downtown Boulder in an industrial park. The location and surroundings aren't great, but seems to be standard for mid-size breweries like this.

Went on a Friday afternoon and it was very busy. The bar was full and had to stake out a space to the end of a larger table already occupied by a group. Beers are available in full or tasting sizes. The prices varied, but they were all reasonable. Service was good and very quick. The waiter puts the order into a handheld device and someone comes out with the beer moments later. Didn't try any food.

Got unlucky I think in that there were no barrel-aged or sour releases available, but still had a good time. Would recommend.
