16 oz bottle Grolsch top bottle bought at the brewery in 2018 (?), drank Feb., 2023
Dark molasses in color, similar smell and taste, very boozy, really thought this was barrel aged until I looked back at the bottle. Just nicely boozy. Nice mouthfeel. Really nice barley wine.

16oz tallboy can, sample from the brewery.
Good frothing on top with lacing that leaves a trail down the glass. Smells and tastes of a bit of Christmas pudding with ample hop aroma and bitterness the balance. Its boozy but mellow. Big caramel overtones, a malt bomb that lands balanced and is dangerously drinkable.

Sampling a 16oz can right now out in The 'Zebo on a pleasant, lazy Fall afternoon ... Picked this can up on 24SEP20 during a Drop In with Alewife. Cost was $6.00.
Pours a deep, rich, vibrant mahogany color. Hard to discern any carbo, and the head is mainly a beige ring of fine foam at the rim. Lacing is pretty decent, all-in-all. Aroma is of piney, resinous hopping with a west-coast lean. Body is a solid medium to medium-plus, and it very smooth and silky on the tongue.
Taste has a solid foundation of malts, with toffee and caramel present in a slightly sweet mix. Then there's a nice blend of resinous, piney, earthy hops. Not overly bitter, there's also some hints of dates and raisins. The finish is crisp and a bit dry, with some pleasant,
lingering hoppage. Quite tasty!! Prosit!

On tap at Vermont Tap House. Williston, VT. This was poured into a snifter. The appearance was a dark red/burnt brown color. Slim white colored little head quickly dissipates. The smell takes in some piney/citrus hops over top of the normal "dry tobacco/leafy" to caramel/toffee malts. The taste, pretty much copies the smell, right on par. Definitely the normal dry aftertaste and quick dry finish. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a decent sipping quality about it. Carbonation sits fairly low allowing the tobacco dryness to hit decently on my tongue. Overall, for the most part, it’s a good barleywine, but American or English, I'm not exactly sure.
